This item came about because I had access to
a lot of wooden slats and the flexible
nature of the wood reminded me of bird feathers.
Earler on I had found a piece of driftwood
which was curved like a bird's body, and so,
after some assembly, and a small amount
of fiberglass-resin to form the head,
I had the bird ready for colouring.
Needing durable and bright colours,
I used enamel paint and wood stain.
The head swivels so it can look in any direction
adding to the realistic impression one gets,
seeing the sculpture in a garden.
As for durability, the sculpture shown
has been outdoors for over
three years and is still like new.
